In July, Vancouver Punjabi Market at Main and 49th Street is officially recognized with bilingual signs in English and Punjabi.

Five Sikh veterans are invited to participate in a Remembrance Day parade on November 11, but are denied entry to the Royal Canadian Legion in Newton, British Columbia. One of these veterans, Lt. Col. Pritam Singh Jauhal, wages a battle of words with the Royal Canadian Legion to change its policies, which proves effective.
